| Gail Patriarche (nee Farmer) was born and raised in Ottawa, Canada. Sketching and painting was a natural talent for her at a very early age. Gail's dream was to become the best artist possible.
Gail moved to Whitby, Ontario, where she worked as a Artist for General Foods in package and design. This was followed by a job as a Commercial Artist with General Printers in Oshawa, Ontario. Eventually she opened her own art studio doing design publications and creative finished artwork for companies in Toronto and the surrounding area. She remained in this field for 15 years. Her natural ability to draw and paint made it easy to give up Commercial Art and take up Fine Art. It was 1981 when she decided to move to the seaside Heritage town of Lunenburg Nova Scotia, opening her Gallery on Montague Street, painting daily. Groups of people would gather around to watch her create her watercolour paintings. Inspired by the natural beauty and ruggedness of the magnificent ocean surrounding the peninsula, unspoiled fishing coves, and interesting outer islands provides the flavour for her inspiration. She also paints for part of the winter months in the Spanish Canary Islands for a total change of scenery and inspiration. Gail's realistic detailed watercolours tend to be landscapes, marine subjects, seascapes, wildlife, and children at play. She also enjoys and has a reputation for painting the unique architecture of the homes, and buildings, but versatile enough to paint on almost any subject. Her paintings and prints are displayed in her Montague Gallery in Lunenburg where she has been for the past 24 years. She has a large following and has sold extensively across Canada, the United States and Spain. |
